Holderby Electric was formed with more than 30 years experience working as an electrician in the residential, commercial and industrial markets in Northern California. I have years of experience so I have probably done it wrong enough times to know how to do it right.... I am still surprised on occasion....  I am one of a very few 100% independent electrical service contractors in N. CA.  I don't have a crew or a fleet of trucks, which fortunately for you means the guy you call on the phone, is the guy who comes to your door and the guy who does the work.  You will not get smooth talk from a salesperson followed by sign here and then someone you have never seen before shows up to do the job (somebody you might normally have never let in your house).  You also are not paying for all those office people, salespeople, service trucks and crews.


Unfortunately, I do not offer free estimates.  If I come to your home there is a charge.  Nothing is free, someone has to pay for the estimate.  If I have to figure out what is wrong in order to determine how to fix it, that is not an estimate, it is called troubleshooting.  I need to figure out what is wrong first (troubleshooting), then give you the options for repair (the estimate).  I have a service call fee that typically covers troubleshooting and the associated estimate.  The estimate is detailed, includes the products to be used and work to be done and can be used to shop my price with others.  Beware of the guy that says I will do it for 10% less..... you have been warned =).


I do not do Time and Material work EVER.  I always provide a price and detail any exclusions with common sense, if it can't be seen, typically would not be present and is stopping me from doing what needs to be done, probably going to be an additional charge (which you will know about BEFORE I DO ANYTHING).  On the other hand I am not going to charge you extra because there is a fire-block in a wall that I could not see because there are SUPPOSED TO BE fire-blocks in walls, I should expect to find one and already know how to get around or through it.    


I offer two discounts:

If you are a vet (and can prove it) you get 10% off the price I quoted you AFTER I QUOTE YOU. (No need to tell me in advance so I can jack up the price and then pretend to give you a discount......)  That 10% comes directly out of my pocket, you are worth it, we earned it, glad to pay it back.


If you are 65+ and on a fixed income you get 10% off the price I quoted you AFTER I QUOTE YOU.  If you are driving this years BMW and you expect a discount because you made it to 65 forget it, you have the wrong guy.


I am about an honest assessment of what you need and providing you with the best service I can.  I pride myself on giving you options and never doing something that may not need to be done.   If I can solve your problem over the phone, I will, because it saves me a trip and the next project that comes along will likely be directed my way.  I can't tell you the number of reset Breaker, or GFI (plug with buttons on it) that I have received over the years.  I don't want your money to reset a switch, if I have to come out I will take it, but its best to give you an option if possible.


I will not buy your review, if you review me you do it because you like the job I did not because I gave you 10% off an already inflated price so I could cover that 10%?  I am not the cheapest electrician you can find, I am not the best electrician, I am just an electrician who cares about what he does,
